Masesing Monyobo
Five of the schools in the Tshwane District Cluster have been battling it out since the beginning of February   to take the lead in the finals of the cluster’s s high schools.  Schools from Soshanguve, Mabopane, Ga- Rankuwa, Winterveldt and a city school took part in the competition and only two; schools, Central Secondary and Kgadime Matsepe Secondary made it to the final round.
The Under 18 Copa- Coca Cola Stars, as they are popularly known, played against each other at  Giant Stadium in Soshanguve, Central Secondary, who are sponsored by Mamelodi Sundowns,] were under the supervision of well known coach, Floyd Mogale.
The stadium was filled to capacity, though some students complained that they had to fork out R2.00 towards their transport to the stadium. Schools, according to the students, should provide them with transport.
Some spectators indicated that they were not impressed by the standard of the competition as compared to the previous year.
Lashia Nkuna of Rua Bohlale Secondary School in Soshanguve said after his school team lost their game last week, he thought competition would be tough, “the players do not seem as enthusiastic and ready for the game, but making it through the first half with five goals is a promising sign for Central Secondary”.
Mogale reminded Central Secondary School players that they were the younger image of Sundowns and urged them to stay focused through the entire match and give it their best. In an interview with Sosh Times he added; “They need Mamelodi Sundowns therefore they must show discipline and carry the brand with dignity”.
Top goal scorer of all times for Kgadime Matsepe, Thapelo Phashu [16], started playing soccer at the tender age of 6 and his passion for football has resulted in him being selected for the school team. He called on young people to stay away from drugs and have a positive outlook in life. Though his team lost he would not despair, and will continue to play soccer.
A learner and supporter of Central, Lilly Moagi, say as a proud fan of Mamelodi Sundowns “I follow the boys everywhere and they never disappoint”.
Khanyelihle Shozi won ‘Man of the Match; for Central. In a one sided affair, Central beat Kgadime Matsepe 15-O.
